"Well perhaps after the wedding we could go for a walk in the woods. Perhaps we could even pick some berries?" He smiled at her.
He enjoyed the rest of the banquet and soon it came to an end, he took the time to escort princess Aurora to her room and bid her good night.
Henry on the other hand was bored, he walked about the castle as if he were a guard on patrol, old habits are hard to break apparently. He knew the guardsman were about doing their jobs but he couldn’t help but be paranoid just on the chance something were to happen. Phillip was his friend, and the princess seemed quite the nice and endearing sort, he’d do whatever it took to make sure the wedding went off well. He had a hard time remember that he had retired from knighthood and was now a duke. His old captain might have smiled that Henry was now acting out his training like it was second nature.
Henry scoffed internally at himself.
He decided to fetch something from his room then head to the garden. He found a empty bench an sat. He pulled something from out his coat and started to mess with it.
Aurora nodded, smiling softly at the idea. “Yes… I’d like that. As I mentioned, I haven’t really gotten much of a chance to go out and about… I’m sure there are many more fascinating things, beyond these walls!”
She had of course read books, but it didn’t compare to the real thing.
As they walked together to her room, her hand tucked in his bent arm, she thought about the future. Their future… It seemed and she hoped that it would be a happy one… and hopefully it would likewise do well for their nations… And with children, it could continue down the lines, for generations….
Feeling a bit rebellious, the princess leaned forward, and kissed her fiance on the cheek, before bidding him goodnight. Tomorrow night they would be doing much more then just kissing on the cheek…
The banquet went well enough, and she was happy to see her lady enjoying herself, and seemingly getting on well with her future husband. She had even spotted the ‘guard’ duke, from that day a few months ago… He was still just as attractive as she remembered. In fact, he looked even better in his real clothes. Not that she would likely tell him that. Although… as they talked a bit more that day, she didn’t mind him too much… There certainly were worse, more annoying men, out there…
She found herself feeling restless, perhaps she had had too much food and wine.. or maybe it was just irritation of having to deal with her parents. Either way, she grabbed her drawing supplies and her journal, and snuck out of her room, and down towards the castle’s garden. She made it there easily enough, avoiding being seen by most people. But when she got there, it seemed like her favorite spot was taken! She got a bit closer to see who it was, feeling a bit surprised when she saw it was the duke. “Oh.. it’s you.”
